Every year thousands of pets go missing, and sadly many never make it home. A big part of pets not getting back home is lack of identification. Collars with tags are great, however tags can become lost or unreadable, while some pets don't wear a collar with tags. Microchipping offers a solution for this.
At Evans Family Pet Care we offer HomeAgain microchipping. With HomeAgain a microchip about the size of a grain of rice is implanted under your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. Each microchip contains a unique identification number which is then registered to your pet in HomeAgain's nationwide database. Should your pet become lost shelters, veterinarians and some police departments have the ability to read this microchip number and then locate you through the database. Unfortunately, microchips do not act as GPS locaters.
When you have your pet microchipped at Evans Family Pet Care, we take care of the initial registration with HomeAgain for you. You simply need to make an account with HomeAgain in order to update your information should you move, change phone numbers, etc.
With HomeAgain the registration is good for the LIFE of your pet, although they do have extra features that you can purchase annually should you choose. Not purchasing these extra features does not affect the ability of your pet being reunited through the microchip should he or she become lost.
Microchipping can be done at any point in your pet's life, it does not require anesthesia to be done, although many elect to have it done when their pet is spayed or neutered.
