We want to treat your pets like family. To us, that means making sure you have easy access to everything your pet needs to stay happy and healthy. From wellness care and diagnostics to medical and surgical treatments, we provide a full range of services for your pet.
All pets benefit from regular veterinary visits. Did you know that for a pet, having one veterinary examination per year is equivalent to you only visiting the doctor every 7 years? Major health changes can occur in a short period of time for your cat or dog, which is why those annual exams are so important.
Keeping your pet healthy is our highest priority. During your pet's examination, Dr. Evans will discuss with you any concerns or questions you might have regarding your pet. She will then examine every body system, from the tip of your pet's nose to the end of their tail - and explain what she finds. Vaccinations may be given to prevent infectious diseases and blood collected to test for disease. She will then make recommendations for at home preventive care your pet will need, such as flea/tick control, parasite control and dental care.
Most pets will require surgical care at some time in their life. Whether it's routine spaying or neutering as a youngster, emergency surgery to repair injuries, or dental care as your pet ages, Evans Family Pet Care offers a full range of surgical services.
All patients that undergo anesthesia and surgery at our clinic are recommended to have pre-anesthetic blood tests to help minimize the risk of complications. Your pet's safety and comfort is of utmost importance, so all of our patients will have an intravenous (IV) catheter placed and will receive IV fluids to help maintain blood pressure. Gas anesthesia is used on all of our surgical cases, so your pet will also have a breathing tube placed in his/her trachea (windpipe) to deliver oxygen and the anesthetic. This is important, as it allows us to use the smallest amount of medication needed, which is safest for your pet. Both the IV catheter and breathing tube are very important in the rare case that there are complications during anesthesia or surgery.
While safety is obviously the most important part of surgery, your pet's comfort is a close second. All of our surgical patients receive pain control medication prior to their surgery, and you will have the option of taking additional medication home for several more days of treatment.
Whether your pet is not feeling well, has been injured, or just needs some screening tests, Evans Family Pet Care has the tools and technology needed. Many conditions can be diagnosed with blood, urine, or stool tests - most of which we can do in our laboratory. We also have the capability to do basic bacterial cultures and antibiotic susceptibility testing. In the event your pet needs specialized testing, we have relationships with several outside veterinary laboratories to expedite the process.
X-rays can be used to screen pets for congenital diseases (such as hip dysplasia), evaluate broken bones, and to look internally for tumors or swallowed objects. At Evans Family Pet Care, we have the latest digital x-ray technology. Our machine produces high quality images within seconds that can be viewed on computer and even sent via the internet to a veterinary radiologist off-site for consultation, if necessary. This x-ray unit also has the capability to take detailed dental x-rays to evaluate the health of your pet's tooth roots and jaw bones.
Ultrasound is used to evaluate internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, urinary bladder, uterus and even heart. It can be used as a diagnostic tool alone, or as an aid when collecting biopsy or fluid samples.
Many conditions can be treated with proper medical care. This may mean a simple course of antibiotics, a longer course of maintenance medications, or even hospitalization. Dr. Evans will work with you to find the course of treatment that will fit your lifestyle and help keep your pet healthy.
